Let me start by saying I don’t mind changing diapers.
At the time I’m writing this we have two boys and a LOT of poop.
One little dude just left diapers and the other is in the full-blown diaper blowout stage. Let me start by saying I don’t mind changing diapers. When the boys wee little ones I looked at it like my job as I can’t help much with the feedings. What I do mind is the extremes in the number of items that accompany the diaper change and how difficult it is to keep them right where you need them. You’re either a person who goes in spartan or you bring the entire house.
Regardless of whether you’re the person who brings the entire changing table in your baby bag or leaves the home with a handful of wipes and some diapers on the go diaper change with a wiggly baby can be a feat of quick reactions, timing, and a little luck. Pre COVID having traveled with our little men on planes, trains, and automobiles I’ve done my share of playing the floor is lava in cramped airplane and gas station bathrooms. Making the experience even more daunting is a Wiley little one and only two hands to hold the baby and pick up the wipes that inevitably get kicked onto the floor.
This is what I call a pain point.
This pain point hit me HARD on a non stop flight from Poland back to the USA. Going spartan (as I do) to the airplane bathroom. Holding our little man by the armpits as to not further disturb the blowout diaper I opened the door to find a half inch of lets just say wetness coating the floor. Taking a deep breath and thinking to myself, I’m just going to attack this diaper change like a nascar pit crew, it will be fine! Nope! Within the first few seconds I was picking up the wipes and diaper that my son had kicked off the table. Like the definition of insanity I did this three more times before we had a semi clean baby and I was sure to need hazmat style decontamination.
I find the process of identifying and solving pain points extremely enjoyable.
I find the process of identifying and solving pain points extremely enjoyable. In fact, I walked back to our seat and immediately began thinking of ways to solve this issue for myself and others.
